When a tooth is cracked, severely decayed, broken, or worn down, a dental crown is often the best way to restore it — protecting it from further damage while bringing back full strength and a natural appearance. At Young Dental Health Center in Upland, California, Dr. Clifford Young and Dr. Peter Young offer CEREC same-day dental crowns, so you can walk in with a damaged tooth and walk out with a permanent, custom-crafted porcelain crown — all in a single visit.
No temporary crowns. No second appointment. No dental lab delays. Just a precisely designed, permanently bonded crown that looks and feels exactly like your natural tooth — completed the same day you sit in the chair.

What Is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that fits over a damaged or weakened tooth, encasing it completely from the gum line up. Crowns restore the tooth’s original size, shape, strength, and appearance, and once cemented in place, function exactly like a natural tooth.
Depending on the material used, dental crowns can be made from porcelain, zirconia, porcelain fused to metal, or gold alloy. At Young Dental Health Center Upland, we primarily use all-ceramic and zirconia crowns — both of which are metal-free, highly durable, and indistinguishable from natural teeth in color and translucency.
Same-Day CEREC Dental Crowns in Upland — No Temporary, No Wait
Traditionally, getting a dental crown required at least two appointments spread over two or three weeks. During that time, patients wore an uncomfortable temporary crown that could fall off, feel awkward, and required careful eating habits. At Young Dental Health Center Upland, we’ve eliminated that experience entirely with our CEREC CAD/CAM technology.
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a state-of-the-art digital crown system that designs and mills your permanent porcelain crown right here in our Upland office — while you wait. Here’s exactly how it works:
How The CEREC Same Day Crown Process Works
We use a special computerized tooth creation technology called CEREC. This digital system works from imaging to production in a short time in our own office. You can read more about each step below.
A Camera Instead of Messy Impressions
After we prepare your tooth, we use this ultraprecise camera that takes a digital image of your tooth. This eliminates the need for messy putty and impression materials that most patients hate – including the gag-inducing feeling of a tray in your mouth.
This image takes into account exactly how your tooth should look and how your bite should feel. The image is then uploaded to a computer that designs the porcelain crown for your tooth.
A 3-D Tooth Printer Mills Your Tooth in Less than 12 Minutes!
Two specialized diamond burrs or points actually mill the tooth that we design from a block of solid porcelain while you wait. This milling is done fully in our own office. We do not have to send anything to a dental lab because the 3-D tooth printer literally “prints out” your tooth in less than 12 minutes. With CEREC technology, we can mill your unique crown while you wait in the dental chair!
To maintain your unique look, you can even choose the color of porcelain that you want your tooth to be milled from. This helps your new dental crown blend in with your other teeth. We have full control of this entire process, so we can offer you convenient porcelain crowns that are designed just for you!
Once your new crown is bonded to your tooth, you are ready to leave our office with a restored smile! No temporary crowns and no second appointment! Of course, you are always welcome to schedule a follow-up visit, but you might not need one with the high-quality dental crown that has been designed for your needs.
This process means that we can produce same day crowns, getting you back to your busy life in no time! We love how CEREC provides same day crowns, and we know you will, too!
